Who is eligible for the free NHS Spring 2026 COVID vaccine?

The NHS Spring 2026 COVID booster is free to: adults aged 75 and over, residents in care homes for older adults, and individuals aged 18+ who are immunosuppressed. You must also have had your last COVID-19 dose at least 3 months ago.
What does it mean to be immunosuppressed?
+
Immunosuppressed patients include those undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy, organ or stem cell transplant recipients, people with HIV, those taking high-dose steroids, Methotrexate, biologics or Rituximab, and those with severe lupus, IBD, rheumatoid arthritis, or psoriasis requiring long-term immunosuppressive treatment.
How long do I need to wait between COVID doses?

Both NHS and private COVID vaccines require a minimum of 3 months (91 days) since your last COVID-19 dose. Check your NHS App or vaccination card if you are unsure of your last dose date.
Which vaccine will I receive privately?

For private appointments we offer Moderna Spikevax JN.1 (mRNA) and HIPRA BIMERVAX (recombinant protein subunit). Both are MHRA-approved for adults 18+. Our pharmacist can advise on which is most appropriate for you.
Can I get a COVID vaccine and flu jab at the same time?

Yes β COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered with flu vaccines. Please mention at booking if you would like both so we can allocate the right appointment time.
Do I need a GP referral to book at MediPill?

No GP referral is needed. For NHS appointments book via the NHS National Booking Service. For private appointments book through our online booking system.
How long does the vaccination appointment take?

The vaccination takes a few minutes. We ask all patients to wait 15 minutes afterwards so our team can monitor for any immediate reactions. Total visit time is typically under 20 minutes.
