The full appointment takes approximately 15 minutes. This includes completing the questionnaire, obtaining consent, performing the finger-prick test, and reviewing results with the pharmacist.
No fasting is required. You can eat and drink as normal before your appointment unless advised otherwise by the pharmacist based on your individual needs.
The test involves a simple finger-prick blood sample, similar to a diabetic glucose test. It may cause brief discomfort but is generally well tolerated and over in seconds.
If needed, we can print a summary or send a referral letter to your GP. This is completely optional.
If your results indicate any abnormalities or concerns, the pharmacist will explain what this means and may recommend lifestyle changes or suggest follow-up testing or referral to your GP.
We use professional equipment with clinically validated accuracy, suitable for point-of-care health checks. For ongoing monitoring or diagnosis, a GP follow-up may still be needed.
This test is suitable for adults aged 18 and over who want to monitor their heart health, cholesterol, or blood glucose. It is not suitable for children or those on certain medications – please ask if unsure.
